What to expect from your chiropractor…

Scarborough Chiropractor

Initial consultation (30 min, £30)

A chiropractic consultation is typically the first step in receiving chiropractic care and involves a thorough assessment to understand your health concerns, evaluate your posture and movement, and determine an appropriate treatment plan.

A part of the consultation is a physical examination so please wear something comfortable, your clothing should not restrict your movement, changing facilities are available.

  • A detailed health history

We want to get to know you, so you'll be asked about your current symptoms (such as pain, stiffness, or discomfort) and how they affect your daily activities. We will also be asking you about your general health and medical history. This includes any past injuries, surgeries, chronic conditions, or family history of health issues.

It’s important to be open and honest to help the chiropractor fully understand your situation.

  • Comprehensive examination

Since chiropractic care focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, a thorough examination of your spine and joints is key. We will look for areas of tension, misalignment, or abnormalities. This will include palpation (feeling the spine and muscles) to locate areas of tightness or discomfort, as well as orthopaedic and  neurological tests, such as checking your reflexes or muscle strength, to get a sense of how well your nervous system is functioning. And it goes without saying that we will be looking at posture, spinal alignment, joint mobility and range of motion.

Should we feel that you are not suitable for chiropractic care then we will refer you to your GP or a suitable specialist.

The treatment plan is often broken into phases, with initial the initial phase focusing on addressing symptoms and later phases aimed at longer-term health and prevention.
