Shockwave therapy Scarborough

Shockwave Therapy Scarborough

Shockwave therapy involves sound waves that are delivered to the affected area through a device that is placed on the skin, these high energy sound waves then stimulate healing in damaged tissue. In the short term it promotes the release of endorphins which can provide some pain relief.  In the longer term the sound waves cause microscopic damage to the tissue, which triggers the body's healing response. This leads to the formation of new blood vessels and the release of growth factors that promote the regeneration of damaged tissue, as well breaking down scar tissue.

While shockwave alone can be effective in managing symptoms, to get the best out of it, your care will likely be combined with rehabilitation exercises and/or chiropractic care where suitable.
